FOR 40 YEARS, Legal Assistance of Washington County, Inc. (LAWC) was an independent, non-profit corporation founded in 1972 by the Washington County Bar Association.

Our purpose was to provide competent legal representation and legal advice by experienced lawyers in civil matters, for Washington County residents who cannot afford a private attorney.

Unfortunately, steep funding cuts from all of our funders (except the United Way of Washington County - East) put us in a position where we could not maintain an office or staff to ethically and competently continue to provide our legal respresentation services.
